David Wood

David Wood, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, focuses his practice on construction, land use law, and general litigation.

Mr. Wood graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law, and is a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Wood received the highest grade in multiple classes in law school: Property, Contracts, Contract Drafting, Title Law, and Secured Transactions. During law school, Mr. Wood began representing clients in the Advocacy Clinic. Mr. Wood has significant practice experience representing developers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Mr. Wood’s legal experience also includes work as a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee in the Financial Division. In this position, Mr. Wood represented the Department of Commerce and Insurance, the Department of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Financial Institutions, and the Department of Treasury. As an Assistant Attorney General, Mr. Wood had extensive experience working with captive insurance companies, insurance agents, credit unions, and small businesses.

The son of an engineer, Mr. Wood has a B.S. degree in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University. Prior to law school, Mr. Wood’s experience in the construction industry includes working as a field engineer in heavy industrial construction. Mr. Wood worked as a project manager on the construction of two combined-cycle natural gas power plants, tracking productivity and providing assistance to sequence relevant tasks. In addition, Mr. Wood has experience in the construction industry worked on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC crews.

Mr. Wood is a member of the Nashville and the Tennessee Bar Associations.
